Weekly Wrestling Watch: HCW 2/22/25: PPV fallout

Coming off a thrilling pay-per-view, HCW delivered an action-packed night full of intense matchups, shocking betrayals, and dominant performances.

The night kicked off with the highly anticipated debut of Black Mass, who utterly destroyed Waldo Winchester in a one-sided affair. Displaying immense power and a ruthless demeanor, Black Mass finished Winchester with his devastating Critical Mass finisher and left the ring without acknowledging the crowd, making a bold statement about his presence in HCW.

The Flaggship (Col. Flagg & Rex Rampage) took on Ethan Hayes & Rafa Sandoval in a high-energy tag team match. Despite Flagg and Rampage’s strong teamwork early on, Hayes and Sandoval rallied back, securing the win. After the match, tensions boiled over as Flagg berated Rampage for the loss, leading to a heated confrontation that hinted at the possible breakup of their team.

Next, Bloodfang Viktor Drakov (w/ Count Vlad) battled Adam Jameson in a brutal, hard-hitting contest. Despite Jameson’s resilience, Drakov, with Vlad’s interference, secured the victory with a Running Powerslam. Count Vlad reveled in the Dark Dominion’s continued dominance.

Backstage, tensions flared between Heritage Women’s Champion Ashley Summers and Luciana Albano during an interview. Luciana blamed Ashley for their tag team loss at the PPV, while Ashley, backed by her manager Ruth Heartless, dismissed the criticism. This hinted at an upcoming feud between the two women.

In a non-title match, U.S. Champion Zack Brown faced Baron von Blood, but the match turned into a setup. Timberfang (formerly Jack Lumber) interfered, blindsiding Brown and costing him the match. Afterward, Timberfang declared that he had abandoned honor and was now hunting Zack’s U.S. Championship, leaving the champion beaten and humiliated.

The main event saw Ashley Summers defend the Heritage Women’s Championship against Sarona Reiher. The match was a back-and-forth battle, with both women showing their toughness. However, Ruth Heartless’ interference played a crucial role, allowing Ashley to escape with her title after a time-limit draw. The controversial finish left Sarona furious, while Ashley and Ruth celebrated, knowing they had once again manipulated the system to retain the gold.

HCW ended the night with multiple rivalries heating up, including Timberfang’s pursuit of Zack Brown’s U.S. Title, Flagg and Rampage’s partnership on the verge of implosion, and Luciana Albano gunning for Ashley Summers. With Black Mass emerging as a dominant force, the HCW landscape is more dangerous and unpredictable than ever.
